EA Plus IV & V
The GT Group’s Enterprise Architecture IV&V approach provides an independent, internal EA process review. We assess the “currency” of our clients’ Enterprise Architecture and make recommendations towards developing a more “Actionable” program. This effort covers the following key areas:
- Mission, Business and Performance Goals
- Artifacts and Products
- Governance and Standards
- Stakeholder Adoption
Typically this assessment is performed as a precursor to further EA implementation efforts, with the focus on documenting the current state of our clients programs. The GT Group employs a formal methodology for this purpose so the results of the assessment will:
- Lead to specific recommendations and goals for the EA implementation, and
- Determine the progress of the EA program by comparing baseline assessment results to subsequent assessments.
Our EA assessment then becomes an EA maturity assessment.
The GT Group documents and analyzes the following aspects of organizational culture, IT practice priorities and processes:
- Business linkage
- Management involvement
- Line-of-business participation
- EA process definition
- EA development (product) status
- EA communication and awareness, and
- Governance
We use an assessment framework similar to SEI CMMI (Level 1 through 5) and ATAM (Architecture Tradeoff Analysis Method), combined with our own EA Scorecard and Value Measure Tools, and produce a baseline EA assessment report that includes analyses of strengths and weaknesses (including results balancing) and recommendations for future EA direction.
